Phillies Vs Rockies
The Phillies completed a four game sweep of the Rockies on Monday winning 5-4 over Colorado.
Things didnâ€™t look good early on for the Phils as starter Joe Blanton surrendered 2 runs right away in the top of the first inning. Jason Giambi and Ryan Spilborgh each drove in a run with RBI singles to give the Rockies and early 2-0 lead.
Philly came fighting back in the 2nd inning with a 2 RBI triple off the bat of Brian Schneider to tie the game up at 2-2 for the Phillies. Two batters later Jimmy Rollins drove Schneider in with a fielders choice to put the Phils on top by the score of 3-2.
In the 6th inning the Phillies tacked on 2 more runs with RBI singles by Ibanez and Polanco to make the score 5-2, Stater Joe Blanton settled in nicely throwing 6 innings while allowing only 2 runs.
In the 9th inning things got interesting after Brad Lidge Surrendered a 2 run homer to make the score 5-4 he then loaded the bases for Rockies Ryan Spillborgh with 2 outs. Lidge was able to escape the trouble and come away with the save making Spillborgh hit a soft ground ball back at him
Marlins Vs Giants
Florida got themselves back above .500 again with a 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
Ricky Nolasco kept the Giants line up in check all game throwing 6.1 innings while allowing only 1 ER on 4 Hits with 7 Strikeouts. Mike Stanton led the Marlins offense driving in 2 runs on a solo home run and a Late RBI Double that turned out to be a big insurance run. Dan Uggla also went deep for his 19th homer of the season.
Leo Nunez came on in the 9th to close out his 24th save of the season.
