Some quick points from 7/24

-Andrew Miller walked 9 batters in just 4.2 innings in his first start back down in New Orleans. Certainly control was one of his issues in the bigs and it continues to hinder his performance. He was able to strike out 7 hitters, but have up 6 earned runs as well. A poor performance all-around. Hopefully, if a mechanical change is needed to the delivery, it will be made.

-For the second straight game, Mike Stanton homered in Jacksonville. He now has 9 home runs in 39 games in Jacksonville. If those numbers were compared to a 150 game season, it’s about 35 home runs. His power numbers really have not dropped very much from Greensboro to Jupiter and now to Jacksonville. In Jacksonville he is sitting at .257/.339/.500 so far for this year. His K rates are still a bit high, but hopefully time will change that.

-Elih Villanueva just missed a complete game in Jupiter’s game last night. Unfortunately for him, Kyle Gunderson blew the save, although the run was charged to Villanueva. Still, it was a very good start and although his record is only at 7-9 for the year, he has been a very efficient pitcher. He only walks one batter per nine innings on average in 2009.
