According to the NY Post Bart Hubbuch’s Twitter feed, Pedro Martinez recently worked out for the Tampa Bay Rays in the Dominican Republic and a subsequent workout has been scheduled to show his breaking pitches.

Update: According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Cubs have also watched Pedro throw  in the Dominican. His fastball was reportedly at 94 mph.

I wonder if Omar Minaya will have a scout stop by and take a peek at how Petey is doing. Given the state of the rotation now that  Maine is headed to the DL and with apparently no timetable for Ollie, its time to consider Pedro as an option.

    Well, given the current state, now would be the time.

    Problem is, he needs to get ready, so realistically, when coul dhe be hear? After the ASB? Maybe just before?

    So, the Mets still have to get by for 3-4 weeks, and by then, hopefully Maine is rehabbed, and Ollie might even be getting close.

    But, I say show him the money if he can be ready in 10-12 days!
